This is the last journal entry of 2007. Well, that's cheating a bit because I finished up writing this yesterday. Sometimes with a baby, well, I take the time where I can find it. If I don't finish up the whole entry, that's that.
I created this by cutting out flower images from collage fodder. Then I drew leaves and some petal highlights with my metallic crayons, then I went in and did the details in a loose sketchy manner with pen and ink. I really like the loose-ness I get from pen and ink.
I used the images from my inspiration file post - modern flowers as inspiration for this page. As you can see, my page is not an exact copy (or even a modest replica) of the images. So, now you know when I post inspiration file things that you can use the images as inspiration without feeling like you will make an exact copy or rip off another artist. If you find you are making stuff that looks too close (and you'll know), then look at the images once, then close that browser screen and work from memory.
And another thing about art journaling that I am discovering - when I do something I really like - I can save that bit and print it out for original collage material later for other art projects. Not that I have time to do any art projects besides my art journal right now, but there will be time later.
